• Daikin-McQuay Synergy

In an interview with the magazine Costruire Impianti (Italy) Chief Operating Officer for McQuay International Claudio Capozio gave an insight into the enlarged opportunities created by its integration with the Daikin Group. McQuay is essentially a player in the applied chiller/air conditioning market with established roots in the United States whereas Daikin is a world leader in the field of DX systems with an expertise in inverter systems. Daikin’s much wider sales network has benefited McQuay particularly in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. Asked about the recovery of the European market Claudio Capozio said that it was unlikely it would regain its pre-crisis sales levels before at least 2015. Increasing competition from outside Europe can be expected to provide quality products at low prices but this should not encourage price-cutting, rather a concentration on high quality and efficiency. Daikin-McQuay’s long term objective is to become the world number one in terms of the number of products sold. Daikin is already in this position in Europe for unitary DX equipment and the aim is to achieve this in applied systems.
